Habitat

Mule deer are found west of the Missouri river, foraging in arid, rocky environments.

Diet

Plants including shrubs, trees, forbes, grasses, and grass-like plants.

Identification

Mule deer are easily recognized by their large ears. Grayish-brown fur with a large white patch on its rear covered by a thin rope-like tail.
