From visitor centers, to picnic grounds and campgrounds, to the trash cans at overlooks and trailheads, for convenience and safety, someone needs to remove trash and maintain the facilities.
The parkway relies on the hard work of employees and volunteers to make sure that facilities are managed, and trash is removed to prevent negative wildlife behavior changes. They are crucial for maintaining the clean and natural look of the Blue Ridge Parkway and it’s many structures and attractions.
A Few of These Tasks:
Restocking supplies in comfort stations and rest areas
Removing trash from bear safe trash cans
Removing dangerous trees and plants from high traffic areas
Cleaning ash from fire pits to prevent wild fires
Cleaning visitor centers, campgrounds and picnic grounds
Maintaining safe and clean conditions for visitors to enjoy all that the Blue Ridge has to offer
