Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area will observe Juneteenth National Independence Day, or Juneteenth, on Wednesday, June 19, with 50 percent off fees at Bandy Creek Pool and backcountry camping permits as well as 50 percent off one night of camping at Alum Ford Campground.Bandy Creek pool and wading pool are also open from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM (ET) on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays through Labor Day. An individual season pass is available for purchase online at https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/1014029937 or at the campground entrance station for $25.
Enjoy the backcountry of Big South Fork by obtaining a backcountry camping permit in person at one of our contact stations or online at https://www.pay.gov/public/form/start/353488124. These permits are good for a stay of up to 14 days. Alum Ford Campground in Kentucky is situated along the Sheltowee Trace Hiking Trail at the Big South Fork River near Alum Ford Boat Ramp. There are six sites available on a first-come first-serve basis for $15 per night. All gravel tent pads have a picnic table, fire ring, food storage locker, and nearby trash receptacles, recycle bins, and vault toilets.
