Big South Fork NRRA to Celebrate Great American Outdoors Act

Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area will observe the signing of the Great American Outdoors Act with free backcountry camping permits as well as free camping at Alum Ford Campground on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

The Great American Outdoors Act was established to address the maintenance backlog of our national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, recreation areas, and American Indian schools. Over a billion dollars will be provided each year from 2020-2024. Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area was one of a few parks selected to receive a portion of the funds for several projects that will enhance our recreational facilities and infrastructures. This will go a long way with increasing access to all visitors, protecting resources, and improving the visitor experience for many years to come.
