Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area is celebrating the kick-off of the seventh annual GO BIG 2022 Challenge with a ranger-led hike on Middle Creek Nature Loop on January 8, 2022. Join a park ranger at the Middle Creek Trailhead at 10:00 AM (ET) to enjoy a moderate 3.5-mile hike and collect 8.5 points towards your GO BIG 2022 Challenge. This trail holds over a dozen sandstone rock formations weathered away to create rock shelters. Winter is a beautiful time to enjoy these unique structures which are often found draped with ice sickles!
Bring water, snacks, and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for winter hiking! The GO BIG 2022 Challenge books will be available at the trailhead. GO BIG and start your year off right!
The GO Big 2022 Challenge is a year-long, self-paced, all-inclusive event designed to help all our visitors connect and experience the many diverse activities and areas along with the natural, historical, and cultural resources of Big South Fork NRRA, Obed Wild & Scenic River, and Manhattan Project Historical Park.
