Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area will be hosting the 24th annual Spring Planting and Music Festival on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Traditional arts and crafts as well as music will be included as part of the festival throughout the day. Activities such as old-timey toys, woodcarving, farrier services, weaving and spinning, longbow hunting, farm animals, plowing with mule and horse teams, planting, and basic gardening are among a few examples.
In addition, to the plowing and demonstrations there will be live music from some of the region’s most gifted performers, children’s activities, and interpretative talks. The day’s events will be spread out between the Bandy Creek fields, the Lora Blevins homestead, and the Oscar Blevins Farm. This free event starts at 9:00 AM (ET) and concludes at 4:00 PM.
The Spring Planting festival is one of the many ways to join the Big South Fork throughout 2024 in a year-long celebration for its 50th anniversary! From new park waysides and interpretive programs to special events and nights under the stars, there’s an activity for everyone.
