Leprechaun Fires: The fires are currently 75% contained, with no new growth. Impacts from smoke are not expected.

Kirby Storter Prescribed Fire: Big Cypress National Preserve is pleased to reopen the closure from the Kirby Prescribed Fire. Prescribed fire activities for this area have been cancelled. The following area is therefore immediately open: Monroe South Trail located south just off US 41/Tamiami Trail and Loop Rd. at Monroe Station. This area is now open for safe recreational use including hiking, ORV’s, and hunting.

Smoke in the region: Several lightning strikes have started new fires in the area. Our partners and area cooperators are managing those. There are no new fires on Big Cypress National Preserve at this time.
