CLOSURE ORDER:

Pursuant to Executive Order 11644 (as amended by Executive Order 11989); 36 Code of Federal Regulations 1.5 (a); and the Final Recreational Off-Road Vehicle Management Plan Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement, all ORV Trails of the original Preserve will be closed temporarily for 60 days to all recreational Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) use.

The annual recreational ORV trail closure will be implemented effective 12:01 a.m. Monday, June 03, 2024. This closure is temporary and will be rescinded on 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 02, 2024.

FINDING: This annual 60-day closure order is appropriate for resource and visitor protection as out lined in the 2000 Final Recreational Off-Road Vehicle Management Plan Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement. Big Cypress National Preserve staff has consulted with our partners in the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regarding this matter and have agreed to implement this closure. The public will be advised of the implementation and subsequent termination of this closure by press release and the posting of signs in the appropriate areas.
