Human Exploration, Horsepower, and Doggone! NASA's Stennis Space Center

Toy dog in front of pressure tank
When I was at the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, I trained at the Test Control Center A-1 and A-2 Test Stands. I monitored tank pressure and temperatures for the RS-25 engine; the RS-25 will help launch NASA’s new Space Launch System (SLS). Stennis is where all of the engines for the crewed Apollo missions and space shuttle flights were tested, and testing continues with next-gen engines and rocket stages that will carry humans aboard the SLS deeper into space than we have ever been before.

To add to the excitement, I also had a close encounter with one of Stennis' frequent visitors: a baby gator!
