Welcome

  • There are two Acadia National Park campgrounds on Mount Desert Island (Blackwoods and Seawall), one campground on the Schoodic Peninsula (Schoodic Woods), and five lean-to shelters on Isle au Haut (Duck Harbor).
  • A valid entrance pass for Acadia National Park is required while staying in any park campground. This is separate from the camping fee.
  • No individual in any capacity may camp in park campgrounds for more than a combined total of 14 nights between the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend and Columbus/Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Campsite Limits

  • Each campsite is limited to two tents, six people, and one vehicle. (Two vehicles are allowed per site at Schoodic Woods.) Additional parking may be available near amphitheaters.
  • Set up all of your camping equipment and gear on the campsite pad only. Don't unpack everything.
  • There are no showers in the campground. Local vendors offer pay showers nearby. Connecting to water or electric utilities is prohibited. At Schoodic Woods, water for on-board tanks is available at the dump station.
  • Clotheslines, rain tarps, and hammocks may only be used on trees that you can access without stepping outside of the campsite pad. Do not damage tree bark. It is prohibited to drive nails, screws, or spikes into trees. Digging trenches is prohibited.
  • The following items are prohibited in the campground: tree tents, portable showers and toilets, bug zappers, tiki torches, string lights, skate boards, roller blades, and scooters.
  • Generators may be operated only 8 to 10 am and 4 to 7 pm. At Blackwoods, generators are only allowed in A-Loop. At Seawall, generators are only allowed in C-Loop. Generators are prohibited at Schoodic Woods.

Help Us Care for Acadia

  • Gathering firewood in park campgrounds is prohibited. Local vendors sell firewood along roadsides. Firewood brought in from other areas may contain non-native insect pests that pose a serious threat to local ecosystems.
  • Keep campfires small and contained in the ring provided. Burning trash is prohibited. Never leave fires unattended. Extinguish fires before bed and before leaving the campsite.
  • Do not gather, pick, or cut branches, plants, flowers, rocks, or any other objects.
  • Stay on the campsite pad and designated trails. Walking offsite damages vegetation and limits restoration efforts.
  • Store all items that may attract wildlife in hard-sided containers or in your vehicle. Do not feed wildlife.
  • Do not wash your dishes at water spigots since it will clog the drains. Wash your dishes at your campsite, then dispose of dirty water in designated dirty water sinks.
  • Place food scraps in the trash. Bring your trash to the dumpsters every day. Keeping a trash bag at your site attracts wildlife.

Be A Good Neighbor

  • Know and respect quiet hours (10 pm to 6 am). Voices travel far inside the campground.
  • Never leave pets unattended. Prevent excessive barking. Pets must be leashed or caged at all times. Leashes must be six feet (1.8m) or shorter. Pick up and dispose properly of pet waste.
  • Remember to remain quiet if arriving late or departing early, and turn off your headlights when your car is idling in park.
  • Drive slowly and respect the posted speed limit of 15 mph. Driving loops are one-way only.

Checking Out

  • Checkout Time = Before 10 am.
  • You must vacate your campsite and check out before 10 am. Any items left on the campsite will be removed immediately after check-out time.
  • Pick up and dispose of all trash from your campsite. Don’t forget to look for any microtrash that you may have missed. Do not put trash in the fire ring.
  • On your day of departure, please place the tag on your windshield in a checkout box near the ranger station. This lets us know that you have checked out.
