The first Evening on the Summit program of the season is Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. Park volunteer Jim Effinger will present a program on Dr. James Christy, a physician on the Allegheny Portage Railroad. This free program takes place in the Visitor Center theater.

The program follows the footprint of history in an attempt to describe not just a small picture of his life, but the times that shaped his life. Being a physician in the 19th century was completely different from the knowledge and technology that we utilize today. To help tell the story, Mr. Effinger will use knowledge from his career in emergency medical services. Dr. Christy provided the best care to his patients, regardless of the situation.
