Fees & Passes

 

The National Park Service does not charge an Entrance Fee to visit Alcatraz Island, but a ticket for ferry transportation by Alcatraz City Cruises is required to visit. Fees for ferries, parking, special tours or special permits are not covered by annual passes or NPS Fee Free Days. Alcatraz City Cruises is the ONLY NPS-authorized ferry transportation provider to the Alcatraz Island and is the ONLY ferry permitted to dock and discharge passengers at the islands.

Plan Ahead

Visiting Alcatraz Island is one of the most rewarding experiences of any trip to San Francisco. You must purchase a ferry ticket to visit the island. The National Park Service strongly recommends making advanced ticket reservations. Making a reservations in advance eliminates the need to wait in line.

Alcatraz tickets are all inclusive. The ticket price includes:

• Ferry transportation service, provided by Alcatraz City Cruises
• Cellhouse audio tour provided by the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Availble in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, and Mandarin. It is also available in Braille in English.
• The Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act fee.

America the Beautiful Passes

Please note that as there is no federal entrance fee to visit Alcatraz. Therefore the America the Beautiful Annual/Senior/Access passes do not apply to the price of a ferry ticket for Alcatraz (which includes the cellhouse audio tour).
