Historical reenactor in Civil War soldier uniform talks to visitors on Alcatraz

Join us on July 11 for Living History Day! Alcatraz Island began as a military fort and played an important role in the American Civil War in the West. There will be Civil War re-enactors, dressed in historical period attire leading tours about the Civil War era on Alcatraz.
Events include walking tours on the hour from 9 AM - 2 PM, tours of Fort Alcatraz, concerts by the band, and military drills. Exhibits include soldier’s equipment, 1860s medical displays, household items and medicines of the period.
