Receiving and Accepting Your Tentative Job Offer
Congratulations—You have been selected for a position with the National Park Service!
In the coming days, you will receive a tentative job offer via email from USA Staffing Office with an @opm.gov address that marks the beginning of your onboarding journey into your new position. The email will confirm the duty station, title, series, and pay grade and step of the position you are being offered. Once emailed to you, you have 5 calendar days to formally accept your tentative job offer.
To accept your tentative job offer:
- Click the personalized link in your email to visit USA Staffing, or
- Login to the USA Staffing website with the username and password you used for USAJOBS, the website where you applied for the position.
Follow the instructions on USA Staffing for accepting your tentative job offer and complete any other pre-employment requirements listed there.
What Happens After You Accept Your Tentative Offer?
Once you accept the tentative job offer, it may take 30 to 45 days before you receive your official job offer. During these 30 to 45 days, there are several actions that will need to be completed before you receive the official job offer. These actions include but aren’t limited to the following:
- You will complete and return new hire forms (OF-306).
- You will complete a drug test or medical evaluation if required for your position.
- Human Resources will review your new hire forms.
- Human Resources will initiate your background investigation.
- Human Resources will work with the hiring manager for your position to secure an effective date for your first day of employment with the National Park Service.
Once these actions have been successfully completed, you’ll be ready to move onto Step 2 in the onboarding process. Note: The National Park Service is a bureau within the Department of the Interior (DOI). You’ll notice that some of the onboarding actions you’ll complete will be using one of the DOI systems.
