Celebrating the 250th Anniversary

Throughout 2026, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace will commemorate the American Revolution with a wide range of programs, events, and initiatives connecting the past to the present.

Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park in Kentucky preserves, protects, and interprets the significant cultural and natural resources associated with Abraham Lincoln’s birth, early boyhood, and memorialization, including the Symbolic Birth Cabin, the Memorial Building, and Knob Creek Farm.

There are numerous significant connections between Abraham Lincoln and the ideals and legacy of the American Revolution, and the ideals associated with the fight for American independence. Lincoln is most often seen as a preserver of the Union and an advocate for the principles of liberty and equality that were central ideals to the American Revolution. The principles of liberty and equality, that were central to the American Revolution, included the protection of individual freedoms, the right to self-governance, the belief in inherent human equality, and the importance of democratic participation. Lincoln's presidency was marked by significant efforts to uphold and extend these principles. The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park commemorates not only the early formative years of Abraham Lincoln, but also memorializes his legacy that he left to the American people.

During 2026, the park will observe "Freedom 250" the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States with several events over the course of this year. All are welcome to come and enjoy these events and remember the man who helped define what it is to be an American.
