The Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park is hosting a National Junior Ranger Day event at the park on April 21 where kids can earn a new Junior Ranger patch! This year's theme is Fire Safety: the park will have a National Park Service wildland firefighter and the Hodgenville Fire Department (with a truck) on site from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm EDT to teach kids about different types of fires and fire safety. Are all wildfires bad? Do you have a plan in case of a house fire? What extinguishes fire besides water? What's the proper way to put out a campfire? Kids will have an opportunity to leave with knowledge they can use their entire lives and earn a Junior Firefighter patch in the process! This event is free and open to the public.
