On Tuesday, April 30, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Park will begin construction of the new pavilion for the Birthplace Picnic Area. During construction access to some parking areas in the picnic area parking lot and access to some of the picnic tables will be restricted to ensure visitor safety. The expected completion date of the construction is May 22, 2013. "We appreciate the public's patience as we work to improve this area," Superintendent Bill Justice said. "This project will help to meet accessibility needs and provide an improved place for visitors to enjoy a picnic or a family reunion."
