Announces – Junior Ranger Day
On Saturday, April 26, 2008, Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site will celebrate Junior Ranger Day. Between 9 am and 3 pm youngsters may pick up materials at the Birthplace or participate in special outdoor adventurous programming planned for the Boyhood Home at Knob Creek Farm. All participates will receive a special Junior Ranger Day Patch. Participation is free and open to kids of all ages.
The National Park Foundation and the National Park Service encourage families and children across the country to get out to the parks to celebrate the Junior Ranger program and its role in connecting our children to America. Special programs in National Parks around the country introduce children to the natural and urban wonders within our parks as they explore and learn about how to protect these treasures.
Activities at Knob Creek Farm will include knowledge hunts, touch tables with animal furs & tracks, leaf tracings and dissecting owl pellets. All Junior Rangers who participate will receive a certificate of completion and a 2008 Junior Ranger Day patch, along with a Junior Ranger booklet and a badge from the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site.
