Spring is Here!

Oh, hello there! My name’s Linc, and I’m one of the squirrels that you might see roaming around the grounds of Abraham Lincoln Birthplace. How can you tell it’s me? Well, I’m the really good-looking one—the one with the prettiest eyes, the fluffiest tail, the most theatrical leap… and, apparently, I know how to use a computer, so that might be a sign, too. But I digress!

The birds are chirping, the grass is growing, and the leaves are now bright green. If you’re like me, you’re finally emerging from your den after a long winter’s rest. No more stuffing your face with dusty old acorns — it’s time to explore the great outdoors! And visiting our nation’s National Parks is a fantastic way to do it.

There’s a reason why I call the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace home, and it’s not just because of all of the wonderful trees (though the trees are pretty great.) From my perch, it’s lots of fun to watch all of the visitors pass through, especially as the days grow longer and warmer. They’ve come to pay their respects, to learn about an important piece of American history, or to simply recreate and explore.

There are plenty of different ways to enjoy this park, and I’m here to show you around. After all, I live and work in the field. So grab your favorite trail snack and let’s “go nuts.” Get it? Nuts? Sorry, that’s a-corny joke.

See you out there!
