In preparation for a major renovation of National Park Service administrative facilities at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, the Outer Banks Group Administrative offices and the Fort Raleigh NHS Visitor Center will be temporarily closed December 14, 2009 through December 17, 2009.

The Line Item Construction project to renovate the aging office complex and visitor center, built in mid 1960s during the “Mission 66” era, begins in January 2010.  All offices and the visitor center will be moved to a temporary office site located east of the current offices and visitor center.  There will be sporadic office phone service/coverage and no internet email capabilities during the move, which is expected to be completed and office services resume by December 18, 2009.  The construction project for the entire complex is expected to take two years.
