Vicksburg National Military Park has 16 miles of paved roads open for touring by private and commercial tour vehicles. Visitors with special needs may tour the park on their own with the use of a self-guiding park tour folder, purchase an audio CD tour, rent a GPS Ranger device, or hire a licensed battlefield guide. Begin your visit to the park at the Visitor Center located at 3201 Clay Street, Vicksburg, MS.
 

For Those With Mobility Impairments: All visitor facilities at Vicksburg NMP are handicapped accessible, and handicapped parking spaces are designated in the lots at the Clay Street Visitor Center and the USS Cairo Exhibit. Visitors must display the appropriate handicapped hang tag and/or license plate. There are 15 designated tours stops along the park road, each with a pull-off for vehicle parking, allowing partial accessibility to various wayside plaques and monuments.

For Those With Hearing Impairments:
The free park brochure is available at the Clay Street and Fort Hill Entrance Fee Booths, Clay Street Visitor Center, and USS Cairo Museum, and is keyed to the self-guiding tour signs along the park roads. Waysides and interpretive plaques are located throughout the park and at the USS Cairo gunboat exhibit and museum.

For Those With Sight Impairments:
Visitors may purchase an audio tour CD (1.5- and 2-hour versions) to guide them through the park tour. Each audio tour corresponds to the designated tour stops along the route. Licensed park tour guides are also available for hire at the Clay Street Visitor Center. The guide will present a two-hour tour in your own vehicle.

In addition, the GPS Ranger tour will provide both audio and visual interpretation of the Vicksburg NMP tour, and is available for rent at the Clay Street Visitor Center.

For Those With Mobility Impairments: The Clay Street Visitor Center and USS Cairo exhibit and museum are fully accessible. Restrooms are located outside each building in the attached breezeways.

For Those With Hearing Impairments: Site bulletins detailing a variety of information are available in the Clay Street Visitor Center and USS Cairo Museum. The Visitor Center orientation film auditorium is equipped with sound amplification devices for those with a partial hearing loss and the films at both visitor facilities are closed captioned. Ask the rangers at the information desks for assistance. The fiber optic map located in the Clay Street Visitor Center details the Vicksburg campaign and siege through use of lights and written text on the display.

For Those With Sight Impairments: The fiber optic map located in the Clay Street Visitor Center is equipped with a narration track, describing the Vicksburg campaign and siege operations.

Did You Know?
In 1903, Massachusetts was the first state to erect a memorial to its soldiers who served during the Vicksburg campaign on the grounds of Vicksburg National Military Park.
