This unit was attached to Col. John M. Simonton's Task Force Simonton, of Maj. Gen. Franklin Gardner's 3d Military District at Port Hudson, LA, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton's Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana, and commanded by Capt. Gadi Herron. The company was redisignated Co. H, 1st Mississippi Cavalry.
