During the Battle of Arkansas Post (9 January 1863 - 11 January 1863), this unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Thomas J. Churchill's Post of Arkansas. Afterwards, it was assigned to Brig. Gen. James F. Fagan's 2d Brigade, of Maj. Gen. Sterling Price's Division, Lt. Gen. Theophilus H. Holmes' District of Arkansas, in Lt. Gen. Edmund Kirby Smith's Trans-Mississippi Department, and commanded by Capt. W.B. Denson. [Refer to Edwin Bearss' The Vicksburg Campaign, Volume III, page 1244.]
