Bronze plaque on Minnesota State Memorial, and monument located on the south side of Union Avenue approximately 0.2 miles west of Grant Avenue. Also a marker designating the assault of 22 May 1863, located on the north side of Graveyard Road midway between Union Avenue and Confederate Avenue.

This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Joseph A. Mower's 2d Brigade, of Brig. Gen. James M. Tuttle's 3d Division, Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman's XV Army Corps, and commanded by Col. Lucius F. Hubbard.

Did You Know?

Thomas O. Selfridge

Thomas O. Selfridge, captain of the USS Cairo, commanded three boats which sank during the war. Each began with the letter "C"-Cumberland, Cairo, and Conestoga. The coincidence was noted after the Conestoga sank, and Selfridge was assigned to the USS Osage, which survived to the end of the war.
