Multiple monument located outside of Vicksburg National Military Park, on former park property in the City of Vicksburg, on the west side of Mission 66, approximately 0.1 mile south of Indiana Avenue. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. Alfred Cumming’s 3d Brigade, of Maj. Gen. Carter L. Stevenson’s Division, Lt. Gen. John C. Pemberton’s Army of Vicksburg, and commanded by Col. James A.W. In 1903, Massachusetts was the first state to erect a memorial to its soldiers who served during the Vicksburg campaign on the grounds of Vicksburg National Military Park.
