Listed on the South Carolina State Memorial. This unit was attached to Brig. Gen. States Rights Gist's Brigade, of Maj. Gen. William H.T. Walker's Division, Gen. Joseph E. Johnston's Army of Relief, Department of the West, and commanded by Col. C.H. Stevens and Lt. Col. Ellison D. Capers (wounded 14 May 1863). The Union siege lines and Confederate defensive lines were marked during the first decade of the 20th century by many of the veterans who fought at Vicksburg, thus making Vicksburg National Military Park one of the most accurately marked military parks in the world.
