Monument is located on Union Avenue 200 yards north and east of the Wisconsin Memorial. This unit was the headquarters escort of Brig. Gen. Thomas E. G. Ransom's 6th Division of Maj. Gen. James B. McPherson's XVII Army Corps and was commanded by Lt. Stephen S. Tripp.
