Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial

Visit the house where wounded Polish freedom fighter Thaddeus Kosciuszko lived and hear how this brilliant military engineer designed successful fortifications during the American Revolution. See the room where he received notable visitors such as Chief Little Turtle and Thomas Jefferson, who said he was “as pure a son of liberty, as I have ever known...”

Site Closure

The Thaddeus Kosciuszko National Memorial will close from November through early February, 2009 to install museum lighting, replace bedchamber period wallpaper, install new carpeting and exhibits with original Kosciuszko artifacts from Poland. Reopening is planned for Saturday, February 7th, 2009 for the annual Kosciuszko birthday tribute.

The Barge Canal consists of the Erie Canal and the three chief branches of the State system: the Champlain, the Oswego and the Cayuga and Seneca canals. There are 57 locks on the Barge Canals.
