National Register Features

The National Register of Historic Places is the official list of the Nation's historic places worthy of preservation. Authorized by the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the National Park Service's National Register of Historic Places is part of a national program to coordinate and support public and private efforts to identify, evaluate, and protect America's historic and archeological resources.

CCC Properties listed in the National Register of Historic Places

At the height of the Depression, approximately 24.9% (12,830,000) of Americans were unemployed.To address this situation. One of the earliest work relief New Deal programs was the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). Projects ranged from planting trees to building parks, flood barriers, and handling forest fires. There are currently over 500 CCC related sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Jewish American Heritage Month (May)
The National Register of Historic Places is pleased to promote awareness of and appreciation for the historical accomplishments of Jewish Americans during Jewish American Heritage Month.

Great Outdoors Month (June)
The National Register of Historic Places is pleased to promote awareness of and appreciation for Great Outdoors Month.

LGBTQ Heritage Month (June)
The National Register lists many properties significant for LGBTQ heritage. Historic places listed in the National Register that are associated with the LGBTQ Community is just one component of the NPS Telling All Americans' Stories website.

Back to School: (Early September) The National Register of Historic Places lists many properties significant for education. We are pleased to promote the awareness of and appreciation for education related properties.

Hispanic Heritage (September 15-October 15)
