Trail Inventory and Condition Assessment with Recommendations - November 2003

The Trail Inventory Report (916 KB PDF) is intended to inform the long-range planning process for the trail system within Point Reyes National Seashore and the North District of Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The document provides information on existing trail conditions, conceptual proposals for new trail alignments, and funding proposal for trail improvements. This document will be used to guide trail improvements and how the park’s trail system can be tied to the over 575 miles of trails on other public lands in Marin County. With the 147 miles of trails in Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County has approximately 725 miles of trails for public enjoyment.

As planning progresses, specific routes and design specifications would be prepared in full compliance with applicable standards and policies, utilizing geographic information system computer technology to manipulate natural and cultural resource data currently being assembled, and with the benefit of public involvement.
