  • Soundside Serenade

  • Civil War Kids

    Kids at a Civil War camp.

    Gulf Islands National Seashore has played an active role in enhancing the education and preservation of our American heritage. During the summer months, kids from across the country have participated in the park's Junior Ranger series, the Civil War Kids Camp. Hands-on discovery such as making hardtack, sending code, dressing in aprons and uniforms, washing clothes, rolling bandages are used to instill a deeper understanding of our nation's past.   • Turtle Talk in the Night

    Since 2008, Gulf Islands National Seashore has been educating visitors about the plight of sea turtles, and the trials they face while navigating the beaches along the northern Gulf. Partnering with the Escambia Amateur Astronomy Association, millions of visitors have learned the importance of preserving the Seashore's unique dark sky vista's. Hands-on education, during the park's Full Moon Walks, allows all ages the opportunity to get to know these endangered Gulf reptiles. Read more
