Logan Pass water system temporarily down
The water system will shut down Tuesday afternoon, July 22, and the temp system is anticipated to be working by the weekend. Visitors should bring water or refillable water bottles. There will be some water available to refill bottles in the parking lot. More »
St. Mary Visitor Center temporarily closed
It is believed that the furnace in the visitor center malfunctioned and caused the sprinkler system to activate early this morning. There is water damage to the building, its contents, and some of the utility systems. The damages are being assessed.
Sun Road Vehicle Access Extended on West Side

WEST GLACIER, MONT. – Glacier National Park officials announce plans to extend vehicle access on the west side of Going-to-the Sun Road (Sun Road) from Avalanche to Big Bend by mid morning Friday, June 19, conditions permitting. Crews continue to clear snow and ready the alpine section of the Sun Road near Logan Pass, and the entire 50 miles of the historic Sun Road will soon open to vehicle traffic across Logan Pass as soon as road conditions and weather permit. Contractors will also pave the storm damaged section of road near the east tunnel concurrent with final road preparations.
