The Flamingo District of Everglades National Park is announcing that annual changes in hours for the summer season are now in effect. The Marina Store has new hours for the summer: 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on weekdays, and 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekends. The Buttonwood Café is closed for the rest of the summer season.

Flamingo is located at the extreme southern tip of the park approximately 38 miles south of the park's main entrance near Homestead.  The Visitor Center and the Marina remain open through the summer. The Flamingo Visitor Center offers educational displays, informational brochures, and backcountry permits. Near the visitor center are campgrounds, a marina and marina store, and canoe/kayak rentals.

When visiting the Flamingo area of the park during the wet summer season, please be prepared for mosquito activity and possible afternoon rain storms.

Directions to the Flamingo can be found on the website at http://www.nps.gov/ever/index. htm or by calling the Park at (305) 242-7700.
