  • Cave permits now available for selected park caves

    FREE mandatory cave permits are now available to visit specific caves in El Malpais. Permits can be obtained at the El Malpais Information Center on NM Highway 53 or at the Northwest New Mexico Visitor Center at I-40/Exit 85. More »

NOTICE: As of December 6, 2010, all caves at El Malpais National Monument are CLOSED to recreational use. Click here to read the official news release. The following brochures show recreational areas where caves exist; visitors can still hike trails and routes to other sites and features but may not enter caves.
