Dry Tortugas National Park Opens Following Tropical Storm Isaac  

HOMESTEAD, Florida - Dry Tortugas National Park experienced minor impacts from Tropical Storm Isaac.  Visitor facilities will reopen on Thursday, August 30.  

Dependent upon weather conditions, all licensed commercial transportation to the park including ferry boat and seaplane services expect to resume operations on Thursday August 30.  However, visitors are encouraged to phone ahead for information on concession operations and tours.

Loggerhead Sea Turtle on the Beach

The Dry Tortugas derived their name from the abundance of turtles that could be found in the area. Even today, lucky visitors may be able to spot loggerhead, green, hawksbill, and leatherback sea turtles plying the waters.
