Accessibility

Access this panel by clicking the Accessibility icon (or left panel) in the CommonSpot left pane to conveniently evaluate the accessibility of components within the current page. CommonSpot's Accessibility tools display page elements as they would be interpreted by assistive technologies to help you improve the quality of content served to disabled visitors to your site.

Select from the following views, then click items in the report to highlight corresponding page components. Note that because some of these tools pull actual HTML into the panel listing, not all content will display as it does on the page.

Outline - This option displays the hierarchical structure of the page, as organized by an HTML5 outline or standard headings, to show how content is presented to users of assistive technologies such as screen readers. Note: The Outline tool only works for content structured within standalone containers. The HTML5 outlining standard ignores content inside tables. See Site - General Settings in the Administrator's Reference for more information.
ARIA Landmark - Displays how the page appears to screen readers using the Web Accessibility Initiative's ARIA (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) and Landmarks standard for navigation.
Link Text - Isolates link text so you can gauge its readability by assistive devices. Screen readers typically provide the option to navigate through all links on a page.
Image Alt Text - Shows ALT text for all images. This is how screen readers identify and announce images. Note that this view does not show background images.
Tables - Shows whether each table appears to be a layout or data table (has headings or not), and lists heading, caption, and summary information, as well as problem areas.
Forms - Shows each form, each field it contains and their labels and highlights common problems.
