Hagerstown, Md. - Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park (C&O Canal NHP) urges park visitors to use caution during the snow and ice event predicted for the park beginning on Friday, January 22.

Closures will be posted on our park website and social media over the next few days. See below for links and please check before you go out. Please note some park areas may be closed due to safety reasons without notice.

The Canal Towpath is a tree-lined path. Forecast conditions include ice, heavy snow and high wind which may cause trees and branches to break and fall on the towpath. Please avoid the park if winds are gusting and use caution during or following a storm event. Park maintenance staff will respond to hazardous conditions as they are reported. At this time, the park will remain open to the general public.

Updates are posted to the Alerts section of the park website and social media sites.
