Buford Dam Lower Pool Park Closed for Repairs

The Corps of Engineers at Lake Lanier announced today that the Lower Pool Park, located below Buford Dam, will be closed 2-3 weeks due to road maintenance. Closure will begin on Monday September 29th. Visitors will be diverted to the nearby Powerhouse Park located on the east side of Buford Dam.

The Powerhouse Park has river access for trout fishermen but does not have a boat ramp.

The Powerhouse Park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Typically, rivers meander and change course over time. However, the Chattahoochee River is one of the oldest and most stable river channels within the United States, since it's essentially "locked" in place, flowing along the Brevard Fault Zone.
