S “This year is the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Atlanta and the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act,” said CRNRA Superintendent Bill Cox. “We are fortunate here in Atlanta to be so near Martin Luther King, Jr., National Historic Site downtown, as well as Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. This holiday is a great opportunity to learn about historic people and places, such as the Roswell and Marietta mills along the Chattahoochee River.” In addition to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the National Park Service will waive admission fees on eight other days in 2014; Presidents Day weekend - February 15 through 17, the first weekend of National Park Week - April 19 and 20, the National Park Service’s 98th. birthday - August 25, National Public Lands Day - September 27, and Veterans Day - November 11. For members of the general public planning additional trips to Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, annual passes are available for $25. For trips that include multiple national parks, there is an $80 annual pass that provides entrance to all national parks, national wildlife refuges, national forests, and many other Federal lands – more than 2,000 in all. The America the Beautiful: The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass provides free entrance to all national parks for senior citizens, people with permanent disabilities, and active duty military members and their dependents. andy Springs: On Monday, January 20, 2014, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) will join the other 401 units of the National Park Service in waiving entry fees as part of the National Park Service’s celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The usual $3 daily entrance fee will not be collected at boat ramps, picnic areas, and parking lots in the CRNRA.Last updated: April 14, 2015
