Frogs & Toads of the Chattahoochee

  American Toad (Anaxyrus americanus)

  Generally brown to olive green in color, can also have reddish coloration.

• 

  Fowler's Toad (Anaxyrus fowleri)

  Typically gray-brown in color with a light stripe down the middle of the back.

• 

  Northern Cricket Frog (Acris crepitans)

  Skin rough and greenish-brown, yellow, reddish, pinkish, or black in color with a dark triangle between the eyes.

  Cope's Grey Treefrog (Hyla chrysoscelis)

  Skin rough and typically grayish or greenish in color but may be subject to variation

  Skin tan to brown or gray with dark "x" shape on back.

  Upland Chorus Frog (Pseudacris feriarum)

  Skin brown to gray in color with variable spotted or striped pattern.

  Eastern Narrow-Mouthed Toad

  Small egg shaped body, plump, with pointed snout and a fold of skin across the back of the head.

• 

  American Bullfrog (Lithobates catesb)

  Skin plain green to yellow or gray or with random or netlike darker mottling.

• 

  Green Frog (Lithobates clamitans)

  Skin green, bronze or brown with dorsolateral ridges that stop before the groin.

• 

  Pickerel Frog (Lithobates palustris)

  Skin smooth and tan-ish in color, with two rows of dark square-ish blotches down back and similar blotches on the sides.

  Southern Leopard Frog (L sphenocephalus)

  Skin green to brown in color. Large dark spots on back between light dorsolateral ridges that are continuous to groin.
