Release of Prospectus for Ferry Service

HARKERS ISLAND, NC - Superintendent Patrick M. Kenney announced that the Prospectus for the ferry service that will operate under contract from National Park Service (NPS) ferry gateways in the Town of Beaufort and from the Harkers Island area was released on February 28, 2013.The Prospectus outlines required services that a ferry contractor must provide and the authorized services that the operator may provide, as well as the standards of service, safety, and environmental compliance that the ferry operator must maintain, and invites bids from businesses to provide the service.

The Prospectus, and accompanying instructions for making a responsive offer will be listed on the Federal Business Opportunities website at WWW.FEDBIZOPPS.GOV.To find the Prospectus use the solicitation number (CC-CALO001-14) in the keyword / solicitation # search field.The deadline for submission of an offer to the Prospectus is May 16, 2013.

Superintendent Pat Kenney stated that: "After many years of planning we are excited to move forward with release of the ferry contract Prospectus, and the prospect of completing the ferry gateways at Beaufort and Harkers Island."

After the closing date of the Prospectus, the NPS will evaluate all of the responsive bids for the ferry service using an impartial panel of NPS employees from outside of Cape Lookout National Seashore.The NPS anticipates that the ferry service will begin operation from the NPS gateways at the Town of Beaufort and the Harkers Island area in the spring of 2014.
