Superintendent Mike Murray is pleased to announce the Outer Banks Group and National Park Service staff, will host two job fairs for 2008 summer temporary seasonal positions. The first one will be held in Manteo at the College of the Albemarle Roanoke Island Campus ("old Middle School") on Thursday, November 1, 2007, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The second job fair will be held in Buxton at the Fessenden Center on Saturday, November 3, 2007 from noon to 4:00 pm.

The Outer Banks Group, which consists of Wright Brothers National Memorial, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, and Cape Hatteras National Seashore, normally recruits for approximately 90 summer seasonal positions each year. The season generally runs from March/April through October, and jobs include Visitor Use Assistants (Fee Collectors), Laborers, Maintenance Workers, Interpretive Rangers, Lifeguards and Biological Science Technicians. National Park Service employees will be available at the job fairs to answer questions about working with the Outer Banks Group and Human Resources Office representatives will be on hand to answer employment and application questions. Workshops will be held to help applicants access and understand Federal vacancy announcements, as well as apply for the summer seasonal positions. Announcements and application forms will be available and attendees are encouraged to bring several copies of their resume. Human Resources staff will accept completed applications.

Although qualifications for different jobs vary, it is a requirement that those working for the Outer Banks Group be United States Citizens. While it isn’t necessary to speak fluent English for some positions, applicants must be able to understand work assignments and ask questions of their supervisors.

The three National Park Service sites on the Outer Banks draw thousands of visitors each summer. Now is the time to come see how you can be a part of the group that maintains, protects and educates visitors about the area’s natural and historic heritage. Job announcements are opening soon for the next season and local citizens are encouraged to apply.

The National Park Service is an equal opportunity employer.
