Casa Grande Ruins Visitor Center Closed from July 20 to July 31 2009

The visitor center at Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, including the museum, video program, and Western National Parks Association bookstore, will be closed from Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 31 so that new flooring can be installed. Public self-guided trails through the ruins, the picnic area, and restrooms will continue to be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. No entry fees will be charged while the visitor center is closed. Monument staff and informational brochures will be available. Please follow the signs at the front of the visitor center.

The Hohokam grew corn using a sophisticated irrigation system.  

Did You Know?
Farmers have grown crops in the Salt and Gila River valleys for over 2000 years. The Hohokam produced corn, squash, beans, and cotton by creating a flood irrigation system with over 1000 miles of canals.
