The National Park Service makes every effort to keep the public informed about news events and special and re-occurring events which occur within and around the units of the Park Service.

Big Bend National Park publishes the Paisano, the official visitor guide which provides visit planning information and contains articles on various resource-related topics.

Big Bend also provides news releases to local and regional newspapers; current and past news releases that can also be found here on the park web site.

Roadrunner on the rocks

Paisano, a Spanish word meaning countryman or peasant, is also a nickname for the greater roadrunner. Common in Big Bend National Park, the roadrunner's nickname is also the namesake of the park's visitor guide.
