Big Bend National Park publishes the Paisano, the official visitor guide which provides visit planning information and contains articles on various resource-related topics.

Big Bend also provides news releases to local and regional newspapers; current and past news releases that can also be found here on the park web site.

Santa Elena Canyon

From the 1930s until the mid-1960s, Santa Elena Canyon was formally known as "Santa Helena Canyon." The National Park Service dropped the H from the name to assist english-speaking visitors in pronouncing the Spanish language name of the canyon.
