COPPER CENTER, ALASKA – Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve is considering extending the federal subsistence moose hunting season between Sept. 21-30 for qualified rural residents in Game Management Unit 11. The park is completing required consultation this weekend, and the superintendent will announce a decision Monday, Sept. 14.
The Federal Subsistence Board approved this action so its April 2026 decision can take effect while new federal subsistence wildlife regulations await publication. More information is available in the Federal Subsistence Board announcement.
The park will announce the superintendent’s decision on Monday, Sept. 14 on the park’s website.
