Women’s Rights National Historical Park and Harriet Tubman National Historical Park will host “Equality Week,” the parks’ first joint public event, from August 26 to August 31, 2025. Coinciding with Women’s Equality Day on August 26, Equality Week will feature guest speakers, living history programs, family-friendly activities, and special exhibits – all centered around the theme of equality and the ongoing fight for equal rights. Special programs will be offered during regular park operating hours at both locations.
Daily featured speakers at Women’s Rights NHP in Seneca Falls, NY include:
Tuesday, August 26: "Activism, Advocacy, Autonomy: The Evolution of the Women’s Health Movement" with Dr. Katie Kicinski-Burkhardt
Wednesday, August 27: “Class Struggle and the Early Women’s Rights Movement” with Ranger Molly Jessup from Women’s Rights NHP
Thursday, August 28: “The Marathon Continues: Harriet Tubman's Fight for Fair Pay” with Ranger Brittany Lane from Harriet Tubman NHP
Friday, August 29: “Behind the Camera: The Photography of Grace Woodworth,” with Jonathan Monfiletto, director of the Seneca Falls Historical Society; and living history presentations with Elizabeth Cady Stanton (Melinda Grube). Please note: Friday’s programs will be ASL interpreted thanks to a grant from the National Park Foundation.
Saturday, August 30: Living history presentations with Elizabeth Cady Stanton (Melinda Grube)
Harriet Tubman NHP in Auburn, NY will also offer timed ranger programs (August 29 & August 30) and hands-on activities. A special pop-up display: “Community, Faith, and the Fight for Equality in Auburn,” will highlight how the Thompson Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church congregation fought for the equality of all city residents in the early 20th century.
Women’s Equality Day, celebrated annually on August 26, commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which granted many, but not all, American women the right to vote. The special programs throughout the week highlight this milestone and explore continued struggles for equality, and the inequities which make this fight necessary.
Women’s Rights National Historical Park is open 7 days a week, Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm, and Friday-Sunday 9am-5pm. It is located at 136 Fall Street, Seneca Falls.
Harriet Tubman National Historical Park is open Friday and Saturday, 10am-4pm. It is located at 47 Parker Street, Auburn.
