Virtual Tour Stop 6
Captain Henry Guibor's Missouri State Guard Battery was located in this area during the first Southern assault on Bloody Hill. Guibor's four 6-pounder guns helped drive back the initial Union probe across Bloody Hill, and, as the Federals withdrew to the crest, the State Guard artillerymen fired in support of their comrades as they surged toward the Union line. During the second and third Southern assaults, Guibor's Battery was stationed west of this area (outside the current park boundary).
