Changes in Operation for the Washington Monument due to Papal Visit.
On Wednesday, September 23, 2015, the Washington Monument will open at 1:00 p.m. due to security and logistics associated with the papal visit to Washington, DC. If you are interested in obtaining free tickets for September 23rd, visit the Washington Monument Lodge, the small stone building located along 15th Street between Madison and Jefferson Drives on the Washington Monument grounds. The Washington Monument Lodge will open at 12:30 p.m. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can no longer make online ticket reservations for September 23rd.
For those who already have reserved tickets for tour times prior to 1:00 p.m. on September 23, 2015, the following options are available:
•On September 23rd, you can visit the Washington Monument Lodge to reschedule your time and receive a new ticket, at no charge, for 1:00 p.m. through 4:00 p.m. Rescheduling cannot be done through Recreation.gov. New tickets will be issued on a first-come, first served basis, and this option will only be available on September 23rd. The Washington Monument Lodge will open at 12:30 p.m.on September 23rd. If you wish to reschedule your tour time for September 23rd you must visit the Washington Monument Lodge, the small stone building located along 15th Street between Madison and Jefferson Drives on the Washington Monument grounds.
•At any time, you can make new reservations for dates and times after September 23rd by contacting Recreation.gov at www.recreation.gov or 1-877-444-6777; tickets are free, but non-refundable reservation fees will be applied. Unfortunately, reservation fees for previously reserved tickets cannot be refunded.
