It's time to take advantage of those longer days with a trip to Voyageurs! If you're thinking about seeking out the North Woods for some respite, here are a few things to consider before coming:

Summer weather

Average high temperatures during this time of year are in the mid to upper 70s F, but can reach upwards of 90 F. In order to stay safe and comfortable while out and about, it's important to plan ahead and bring plenty of drinking water in order to avoid dehydration. Keep in mind that the average person drinks one quart of water per hour while hiking on a hot day. And don't forget the other items essential for beating the summer heat: sunblock, a hat, and sunglasses.

Average Temperatures:

Month High (F) Low (F) Precipitation
(inches)
June 74 49 3.98
July 79 54 3.37
August 76 51 3.14

Mosquitos & ticks & deer flies, oh my!

We are no strangers to mosquitos, deer flies, and ticks at Voyageurs. A functional outfit is a fashionable outfit in the North Woods. A bug net, light colored clothing, bug spray, and long pants tucked into socks can all go a long way to help you safely and comfortably enjoy the trails. Be sure to check yourself for ticks after hiking.
