2nd – 3rd grade:

- How does her life seem different from yours?
- Does she go to school?
- Does she play games with her friends?
- Does she have family nearby?
- Do you think you are more alike than different? Why?
4th grade:
Think about that first encounter between the missionary and the O’odham people.
- How do you think the O’odham people felt? What did the missionary do to make that meeting go smoothly?
- What language did the priest speak?
- What kinds of skills would you want if you were meeting new people for the first time like Kino?
5th grade:
The Franciscan priest writes: “Our children of the mission still do not dress themselves decently and persist in their pagan customs. The neighbors of the mission, the settlers, which increase in number year by year, even encourage these devilish customs for their own entertainment. ”
